Lidocaine Hydrochloride Topical Solution, USP 4% is a prescription local anesthetic for topical use on mucous membranes. Each mL contains 40 mg of lidocaine hydrochloride monohydrate in an aqueous solution, and it is supplied in 1⅔ fl oz (50 mL) bottles.

The solution is indicated for the production of topical anesthesia of accessible mucous membranes of the oral and nasal cavities and the proximal portions of the digestive tract.

Lidocaine is an amide-type local anesthetic. It stabilizes the neuronal membrane by inhibiting the ionic fluxes required for the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses, thereby producing its local anesthetic action. Amantadine Hydrochloride Oral Solution, USP is a prescription oral solution containing 50 mg of amantadine hydrochloride per 5 mL. It is raspberry flavored, and is supplied in 1 pint (473 mL) bottles with a 10 mL dosing lid as well as in 10 mL unit-dose cups.

The solution is indicated for the prophylaxis and treatment of signs and symptoms of infection caused by various strains of influenza A virus. It is also indicated in the treatment of parkinsonism and drug-induced extrapyramidal reactions.

Amantadine hydrochloride has pharmacological action as both an antiviral and an anti-Parkinson agent. As an antiviral, it appears to act mainly by preventing the release of infectious viral nucleic acid into the host cell, interfering with the function of the transmembrane domain of the viral M2 protein. It inhibits the replication of influenza A virus isolates from each of the subtypes — H1N1, H2N2 and H3N2.

Promethazine with Dextromethorphan Cough Syrup

Promethazine with Dextromethorphan Cough Syrup is a prescription cough syrup. Each 5 mL — one teaspoonful — contains 6.25 mg of promethazine hydrochloride and 15 mg of dextromethorphan hydrobromide, with alcohol 7.0%, in a pineapple and raspberry flavored base. It is supplied in 1 pint (473 mL) bulk containers.

The syrup is indicated for the temporary relief of coughs and upper respiratory symptoms associated with allergy or the common cold.

Dextromethorphan is an antitussive agent that acts centrally to elevate the threshold for coughing, and is about equal to codeine in depressing the cough reflex. It is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, exerting its effect in 15 to 30 minutes with a duration of approximately three to six hours. Promethazine is a phenothiazine derivative which acts as an antihistamine.
